Veeps quickly started to understand that it may not have been as straight forward and he first anticipated when Ruby Red continuously lost. Veeps Snr was given names, addresses, locations and descriptions of Vaughans’ competitors and was tasked with ‘cleaning up’ which compensated so much more than the general daily duties at The Homestead.Īs time passed Veeps grew fonder of the races and realised the newest opportunity which had arisen through this new line of work which is when he decided to put his earnings into buying his own Horse, ‘Ruby Red’. Mr Vaughan didn’t like risk, he liked the odds to be in his favour which is where he identified an opportunity to fully utilise the tools which had been given to him that day Veeps came knocking. but gambling suggests there is risk involved. Veeps desperately scrambled for work to help generate some income and help him get by, going from door to door essentially begging for jobs which is when he came across “The Homestead”, a farm run by a man called “Mr Vaughan”.
